Diamondbacks trade: SP - Max Scherzer, 2017, 8.7 SP - Carlos Rodon, 2nd, 0.5 1B - Japhet Amador, 2016, 1.4 SS - Erick Aybar, 2016, 1.2 11.8 Indians trade: SP - Fransico Liriano, 2018, 3.0 C - Yadier Molina, 2016, 6.8 OF - Oswaldo Arcia, 4th, 1.0 (LF) OF - Raimel Tapia, 1st, 0.3 (Rockies) www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa597078&position=OF3B - Hunter Dozier, 1st, 0.3 (Royals) www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa737439&position=3BSP - Francelis Montas, 1st, 0.3 (Athletics) www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=14309&position=PSP - Mike Clevinger 1st, 0.3 (Indians) www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=12808&position=PSS - Jose Rondon 1st, 0.3 (Padres) www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=14140&position=SSDbacks cap: +0.5 Indians cap: -0.5 So, I guess this sort of means I'm 'going for it' next year. I might not go ALL IN until I know I have a shot, but this is the second of a few trades where I'll trim my excess specs for quality MLB guys. Liriano's been pitching better, but I see this as trading up for Scherzer, getting Rodon on a downswing, and moving a few guys at a pretty high spot in their value (Dozier and Rondon). Though I have high hopes for Tapia, Dozier, and Montas, nothing can really beat having an anchor like Scherzer and a young arm like Rodon. Thanks, Dbacks. Challenging, quality talks. **Dbacks will be unprotecting a few specs to make cap room**

Accept
I'm looking towards 2018 with this deal. Love Scherzer, possibly could've held out for more on him, but the interest was surprisingly low because of his 8.7 salary and one yoc remaining. Still like Rodon, kid can miss some bats, but I'm not sure he's going to ever get his walks in check, so he's always going to be a WHIP liability.
I really, really like Tapia. I feel like he can be similar to Dexter Fowler, with more pop if he fills out his frame a bit. He's got the makings of a 5 cat guy. I drafted Dozier, so seeing him bounce back this year has me excited about getting him back. I know it could be partly a PCL mirage, but I think he has the upside to be a top 10 3B. Montas is intriguing with a high risk/high reward profile. I think the move to Oakland can only be a good thing. Clevinger has steadily improved each year since his TJ. I'm thinking he can be a solid #3 SP. Rondon doesnt appear to have much upside but he's a contact hitter with some speed. He could be a decent MI. All in all, I'm getting a handful of young guys with tons of control.
It took us a week, or so, but we got there. Nice deal, Indians.
