Not as Quick Questions...
1. What experience do you have playing fantasy baseball?
Ten years. I started with a rotisserie league towards the end of high school and have been in one head to head and one rotisserie for the last few years. I’m in the fifth year of a 12 team dynasty league with a 50 man minor league system and I really like it. I’ve also done a daily league with a group of friends locally for 6 years. I enjoy them both but I really enjoy the minor league element in the dynasty league and that’s why I have a lot of interest in this league.
2. How often are you available online to be contacted by your fellow owners in this league (trade talk and such)?
Always. I’m very responsive and will be active in the league. I go on 1-2 vacations a year for a couple days but even then check fantasy baseball and e-mail.
3. What kind of team would you be willing to take over? (The options could include: A team with a chance to compete this year, a team with a chance to compete in the near future, a team that needs alot of rebuilding/owner work)
Any. The current state of the team isn’t a huge issue to me.
Longer Answers...
1. We play in a total franchise league (Read the rules in the rules section to get an idea of how we play)... What would be your general game plan while running a team in this league?
I think general game plan is to obtain assets at low costs in franchise leagues. At first I’ll need to analyze the team and determine can I or can I not compete at this point. If I can then it’s about adding talent that supplements weak areas of my team. You really win when you can find ways to do that and improve yourself for the future so I try to find players that will be better then they have been.
In addition….I think it’s important to spend a decent amount of time analyzing the future of other clubs in the league. While you can never fully understand what players will/are available to be acquired and when…following and projecting are key to building a consistent winner.
2. This is a league with 15 teams in it, and as such it can be expected that there will be a rather large number of teams that will not contend every season. Would you be ok with building for the future? Do you need to always be in competition in order to remain interested in the league?
Yes. I won the league in the 2nd year of my 12 team league and this offseason (after year 4) I decided to sell the remaining assets I had and acquire young players and/or prospects. I’m actually really excited to try to continue to do that throughout the year. I’ve gameplanned to find good players in the yearly auction this year and once the season begins to attempt to trade them for any prospects I can get my hands on while at the same time adding some free agents for long term cheap contracts to increase my chances for 2016-2017
I have a fondness for young flamethrowers. Who’s got Noah Syndergaard right now??
3. Any other information you think we as a league should know in order to best determine your eligibility?
No. I think you’d have a very active owner if you gave me the nod.
4. Please post some online history (this is a security measure to ensure that there are no duplicate owners). Examples : your Facebook page, your twitter account, any other leagues you were in...
