Indians Trade: Dayan Viciedo- LF/RF, 4th, 1.0 Zach McAllister- SP, 3rd, 1.0 Joaquin Benoit- RP, 2014, 1.3 Justin Williams- OF, 1st, 0.3 (DBacks)Rangers trade: Jeff Samardzija- SP, 6th, 3.6 Dexter Fowler- CF, 6th, 1.0 and Indians Waive: Jonny Venters- RP, 5th, 1.0 Indians cap: Even Rangers cap: -1.0 Well, I'm selling some future for the present. I think Samardzija and Fowler will end up having considerably better 2014s than either Viciedo or McAllister. After picking up Capps and Farquhar in my last deal, Benoit becomes expendable. Justin Williams is an 18-year-old kid who mashed Rk ball, who doesn't help me win a championship right now. Here's to hoping Shark can keep up the good work and Fowler can be the 20/20 guy in that bandbox down in Houston lots of people think he can be. Solid negotiations, Rangers.

I made the deal to obtain a little more long term value. I didn't really plan on resigning Samardzija or Fowler, and they're both expiring. Viciedo fits my short term needs a little better than Fowler, as my team is hurting a bit for power. I need some HR. Benoit can boost my holds a bit while possibly picking up some saves at some point with Street being a bit injury prone. Williams is just a prospect I like. Raw, but lots of power potential. McAllister is just a guy, but could help.
