2.1 Salary cap
The salary cap is set at $110M for every team.
2.2 Calculating the arbitration year for a player
Any player who has accumulated less than 150 total MLB at bats or 50 total MLB innings pitched in their career by the opening day of the current season is classed as a first year player.
Upon completion of their 150th total MLB at bat or 50th total MLB inning pitched then a player is in their final year of 1st year eligibility, and the next season they will be classed as a 2nd year player. The subsequent year they will be classed as a 3rd year player, and so on until the end of their 6th year when they will become a free agent.
2.3 Arbitration clock
Once the 150AB/50IP limit has been reached, the player will advance a further year into the arbitration process every season, even if they log no at bats or innings pitched in subsequent seasons.
2.4 Salaries for 1st - 3rd year players
Salaries for 1st – 3rd year players, regardless of previous statistics are as follows:
First year (1st) = $0.3 million
Second year (2nd) = $0.5 million
Third year (3rd) = $1.0 million
2.5 Salaries for 4th - 6th year players
Fourth year (4th), fifth year (5th) and sixth year (6th) year hitters who have less than 50 ABs in the previous season will automatically be given a salary of $1.0.
Fourth year (4th), fifth year (5th) and sixth year (6th) year pitchers who have less than 10 IP in the previous season will automatically be given a salary of $1.0.
Otherwise, salaries for 4th - 6th year players are calculated using the player's statistics from the previous season and an arbitration calculator (detailed in rule 2.6):
Fourth year (4th) = 50% of the calculated value, or up to $3.0 million or a minimum of $1.0 million
Fifth year (5th) = 70% of the calculated value, or up to $5.0 million or a minimum of $1.0 million
Sixth year (6th) = 90% of the calculated value, or up to $8.0 million or a minimum of $1.0 million
Normal rounding rules apply if calculating the arbitration figure returns a salary that goes to two or more decimal places.

2.6.3 Arbitration Bandings Guidance (for Admins Calculating the Bandings for the New Season)
Any ties overlapping a boundary qualify for the higher banding, and are included for counting purposes when calculating the next boundary. Example - if the top 4th, 5th and 6th contributor in a category are all tied then they would all receive the top 5 value. There would then only be four players receiving the top 10 banding (as the 6th place contributor was accounted for in a tie within the top 5).
All players with 149 PAs or fewer are excluded from the OBP calculation.
All pitchers with fewer than 5 starts or 49.2 IP or fewer are excluded from the SP ERA/WHIP calculations.
All pitchers with 5 starts or more or 19.2 IP or fewer are excluded from the RP ERA/WHIP calculations.
Tip - Fangraphs is an easier resource for calculating the ratio boundaries than MLB.com.
