Wow, this big trade had quite a few iterations, but I think we found a place where we were both comfortable. Giving up Bautista is tough, he's still a top 5-10 OF, and should continue to produce for a couple of years, but there's a lot of uncertainty going into an offseason where a lot of owners have cash to burn. Ubaldo has pitched like a legit ace this year too, and on a two year deal at that salary could be one of the biggest bargains in the league, but he's inconsistent historically so it's hard to say for sure. Hudson and Gorzelanny are just auxiliary pieces that have more value to Rockies than to my club at this stage this season, but could produce some good counting stats down the stretch.
Cargo is a real enigma, but he's not yet 30, and has a tremendous amount of upside. I'm anticipating big aggressive spending this offseason as bad 3 year deals from the league's first season expire, so while Cargo is tied to a big salary, I think it may end up being closer to market value than I'd like. Moore's just gotten back to big league play after having TJ, and should be a young cost controlled arm to add to my club looking forward, but it'll likely take him at least the rest of the year to reach 100%. I'm high on the ceilings and projectability of all three prospects I'm acquiring here, all seems to be in the midst of a legit breakout.
