Just had a thought with the hometown discounts. We offer 20% if they were on your roster and then 30% when they are also on one of the two real life organizations.
What about if we also add to the clause that you get a 10% discount when you are bidding on a FA that is on one of your two real life organizations? Just throwing it out there for discussion, as it won't be often this comes up but I noticed in the Ellsbury bidding where NY Giants is bidding on him.

I like it, it would make it competitive between the home team, and the mlb home team owner.

Also one more thought, i am not sure on the rule. If you trade a home town discount player 2 or 3 years down the road, does the team acquiring pay the discount price or the original bid?

Discount price. Once a player is signed that is his salary until end of contract.

Here is my problem with this. The yank sign ellsbury and mccann, beltran and guys like these all the times. So you get discounts of that while i get a cheap saltamachia? It really hurts the people who have 2 low budget teams in real life.

I'm not particularly keen on this personally.
I agree that it would unfairly benefit those teams who constantly compete and regularly have the best players on their rosters.

There is a rule where players signed to hometown discount cannot be traded for longer than a normal FA acquisition. No free agency contract can ever change once it has been signed. Sent from my phone

"There is a rule where players signed to hometown discount cannot be traded for longer than a normal FA acquisition." what is this rule? I can't see any mention on the Trades or Free Agency sections of the Constitution

I suppose the counterargument to this is that teams like the Yankees tend to trade away prospects much more frequently than most teams therefore I over time I will probably be at a disadvantage in terms of having a weak farm system. so it's swings and roundabouts to a certain extent

But u can protect any prospects before they are traded for a low cost and keep them on your fantasy roster even if traded by IRL team.

I can't see any mention on the Trades or Free Agency sections of the Constitution Oh my, it was voted in as a rule change but it appears that I did not document it when I rewrote the rules :-$ my bad. It basically states that you can't trade them in the whole of the first season's trade window - it's not forever or anything. Sorry about that. I'll add that to my lengthening list of things to do :-( Sent from my phone

5.11 Free Agent Initial No-trade Window You may not trade a Free Agent signing until June 30th of the season he is signed.
I thought this applied to all FA acquisitions?

It does, although those signed with a hometown discount are ineligible to be traded for a bit longer too. I'll word up the rule update and communicate it as soon as possible. At least, I think it was voted in. Either that or I'm losing the plot.
