Rockies receive: C - Jason Castro (5th) $1.0 Mets receive: C/RF - Ryan Doumit 2014+ $1.1 1B/3B - Mark Reynolds 2014 $1.6 2B - Ryan Brett (Rays) (1st) $0.3 www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=brett-001ryaOF - Raimel Tapia (Rockies) (1st) $0.3 (previously unprotected) www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=tapia-000raiCaps: Rockies -$2.0/$107.2 Mets +$2.3/$104.3 Reasoning: I liked what Doumit had to offer a lot coming in to the year, but with his trade to Atlanta I fear for his ABs. Castro gives me two years of a catcher who I believe is a top-10 guy. Brett is flying under the radar a bit, but I think/hope I'm OK at 2B for the next couple of years and shouldn't miss him. Tapia has flown up the prospect boards in the past season and has a BUNCH of upside, but he's a long way away and could amount to pretty much anything. Thanks Mets - we got there in the end!

Accept, this trade took some time to iron out, but we finally agreed to a fair deal for both. It was tough to give up Castro with two years left, but get the value I was looking for back in prospects. Brett is close to the majors and offers solid production at 2B in the near future. While Tapia will need some more seasoning to reach his potential, but it is quite high and anything even close would be great.
