quick question - not sure how long the amateur draft took last season, but is there any chance we could move it slightly? I am going to be abroad 7-9th March with probably no access to internet, so if it starts on 6th March then I could feasably miss pretty all my picks. so any chance we could start it a couple of days earlier or later?

You could always make a list of your top100 and have someone pick for you. It was done that way last year.

It's 12 hours per pick in the 1st round, and 8 hours per pick after that. You shouldn't miss any more than one pick - you can fill out a ranking sheet beforehand (you'd probably only need a top 3 as you're drafting 3rd) and send it to me and Turbanator and make your pick on your behalf.
7 rounds at 8 hours per pick will take us a good couple of weeks at least.

Yeah, best option is probably to figure out a top 50-100 and give either Stephen or I a heads up a bit ahead if you know you're going to miss your pick, alongwith a list.
I'll probably post a list of the first 100-150 guys picked in this year's draft, as well as the top 10-20 underage international guys who were signed, just to establish a rough player pool. It's fine to pick outside this pool, as long as players were drafted/signed in this year's RL draft/window, but I figure it might be easier to keep track of with a public list being updated.
Be sure to keep some cap space available for the draft, as everyone will likely be adding at least one, if not a handful of non-organization prospects to their rosters. You do have the option of skipping your pick entirely though, if you don't care about the later rounds.

That's fine, I can do a list if need be. Presumably even though it's 8 hours per pick, there will be times when it moves much quicker than that - could easily get through say 10 picks in an evening if lots of people are online at the same time.

It's entirely possible, but if last year's amateur draft is anything to go by that won't happen very frequently.

No need to worry. Y'all will eventually trade all of your prospects to me. (Evil Laugh Hahaha) One day I will field a MLB team and not a Sally League team.

You do have the option of skipping your pick entirely though, if you don't care about the later rounds. I'll probably catch some back lash, but I have to get it off my chest. You guys (Admins) have done a great job with the Constitution and keeping things moving. Everything is very organized, so I understand the idea of a public list. I'm just curious how you're going to post it. By rank? According to BA, BP, or <insert any prospect guru>? This would obviously be the easiest, because you can copy and paste. I'm against this method. If anyone is familiar with drafting online through any scoring site (ESPN, YAHOO!, etc), you know that all the players are listed in order of rank (Overall/Pos). This drives me crazy (even though it's the most logical way) because it allows people to show up and draft a decent team, without doing a lick of research. Even worse, when you hit the middle/late rounds, people draft your sleepers even though they have no clue who they are, because their name is atop the public list of remaining players. I feel the same way about the upcoming Amateur Draft. If people didn't do their homework, that's on them. Why should they have a public list, basically telling them who to Draft? At least take the time to print out your own list and cross players off as they're selected. Would it be too much work to do the list in alphabetical order? Or any other way besides rank? If I'm coming off as a whiner, so be it. I had to voice my opinion.

I want to see a public list just so I can disagree with it! lol...
I see what you're saying Mr. Miggity, I would say the public list should be the top 105 players taken in last year's draft, as well as a separate list of IFA's under 21. This way the list won't depend on any subjective rankings, but rather on an objective fact like draft order. Does that make sense?
EDIT: this seems to be what is actually taking place. lol...*this isn't the comment you were looking for*

Ah man. My reading comprehension needs a little work. I somehow replaced "the first 100-150" with "the Top 100-150". I typed all that for nothing, smh. It's no wonder I was in "boom boom" English class my senior year.
