So I have the first pick in my AL Only league minor league draft. The rule is you can pick anyone who is CURRENTLY in the minor leagues, as long as they have less then 3 years of MLB service time (so I could pick Danny Salazar if I wanted to). All minor leaguers are signed to 5 year contracts (you can choose one MiLB to sign to a 7 year deal).
I'm leaning pretty heavily towards Carlos Rodon since he will be up this year. But... I love Yoan Moncada's potential. However I'm not sure if Yoan will be up in 2 or 3 years...
Its a 5x5 league where pitchers get stats for W, SV+H, WHIP, K/9, and ERA...
Thoughts?

When do you think you'll be challenging for a title? Immediately?

I'd tend to err towards taking a hitter. Buxton could well be up by mid-season, and Correa maybe Rodon will probably be awesome but there's a decent chance you'll lose him to TJ for a season or more at some point

Sorry I should of given more details:
League has been around for 13 years so guys like Buxton and Correa are long gone. I was 4th last year and have a really loaded offensive line up but don't really have any front line starters except for injured Garrett Richards and returning Holland.

I would think that the Twins force him to show what he has in a healthy full season between AA and AAA before a call up. Love to know your thoughts.

Twins arent' shy about calling up guys they think are ready to play in bigs. If Buxton is being what he is supposed to be, the best prospect in baseball, he could easily get the call up June/July.

Rodon makes sense if you want a pitcher, but I would not be able to pass up Moncada or Rusney Castillo (if eligible).

I'd say Rodon or Alex Jackson. Moncada isn't going to be rushed, but he could see time sooner than later depending on a bunch of factors which are hard to predict.

I'd be tempted by Salazar. He's shown his skills translate at the MLB level, and he's going to help this year. He's about as close to a sure thing as you're likely to be able to get your hands on...

My problem with Salazar (and some what Rodon) is they walk way too much. Rodon didn't seem to have that issue in college so I'm just going to chalk it up to him trying to control his fastball as he learns to throw that and his changeup more. Rusney is eligible but I already have Mookie, Byron (in the minors), Gardner, and Nick Castellanos (who is still OF eligible).
I really want to take Yoan but Dustin Pedroia's contract doesn't expire till 2021. So I'm not sure when/where he is going to play in that infield. 1B? I think if I had the rules here where his service clock doesn't start till he reaches a certain number of AB in the majors, then Yoan would probably be my pick... ARGHHHHH!

Or just take the guy with the most value (Rusney? Moncada?) and trade him for what you actually need?
