Hopefully I word this correctly:
If a non-international player, who has never had an AB or pitched an inning in the majors is signed to a club (regardless if it is a minor league deal or a Major League deal)... Would that player be considered a in season Free Agent in our league?

So basically undrafted free agents. They would just belong to whatever club they signed with I believe. Unless I'm missing something in the rules.

Cool thanks!
Why wouldn't we handle International FA's in the same manner?
Can't believe the Angels are knocking around Yu.

Cool thanks! Why wouldn't we handle International FA's in the same manner? Can't believe the Angels are knocking around Yu. Would be a bit unfair to handle IFA's that way, as clubs with larger payrolls are much more likely to sign players like Tanaka, Darvish, Ryu, Cespedes, Puig, Abreu, etc. Would put some owners at an inherent disadvantage. Domestic undrafted FA's are typically much lower profile though, and are a very small group. I don't know if we've necessarily accounted for them to be honest, it's something that I need to look into.

Good point. Thanks for clarifying that.

One more question, can a team bidding on a in season International FA use a hometown discount? There isn't anything in the rules saying you can't but wanted to check.

I know it's been discussed somewhere before, but no you can't.

Oh ok thanks there was nothing in the rules prohibiting it (I think) but was not sure. Thanks for clarifying.
